Once Upon a Mattress

My life, as I find it, is not very busy. I don't really have much to do. I mean, between student council, basketball practice, and looking after 5 siblings I just don't know what to do with my spare time. Sometimes I feel like every single spare minute needs to be filled with something, so I decided to do our school's musical this fall.

The play was called "Once Upon a Mattress" which is a spoof on the ever-so-popular "Princess and the Pea" story. I played Sir Harry, the head knight in the kingdom, and I just found out that my wife, Lady Larken (played by Belen Moyano), is pregnant when we weren't supposed to be married in the first place. A little scandolous, I know; not even close to what I'm like in real life... But hey, what can I say? I'm just a semi-descent actor I suppose.

The whole story is absolutely hilarious and it was preformed extremely well by all of my friends in the cast! I started a little rocky and insecure because basketball was interfering with my reherasal time and the cast was getting a little angry with me because of it. But with the help of my counterpart Belen, I was able to pull it off somewhat well. It was the most fun production I've ever been a part of, and I loved performing.

Thank you to everyone who came and saw it! I hope you all enjoyed it. And to everyone who didn't get the chance to see it, I will hopefully be getting it on DVD soon, so hold tight!

Washington D.C. from a Close-Up Point of View

This past week I have been smoozin' with the political side of the world. I spent the entire week in the nation's capitol and here is a full and semi-detailed report of what I did...

I had the opportunity to go with the Close-Up club at my school (government club) to Washington D.C. where we joined this program that took us to see all of the historical monuments around the city. I was paired up with 3 roommates; one from my school and two from another school somewhere in the U.S.
Saturday
We packed up and left for the airport and went on our glorious 4 hour flight to D.C., which was split up into two flights where we stopped in Denver, and we had the luxory of a free cup of ice with whatever drink we wanted lightly poured on top of our cup of ice. Not to mention that our in-flight tv and food took only credit cards and not cash, so I was left foodless and televisionless for all 4 hours of the plane ride. But once we landed I finally had my dream of having an Indian taxi driver fulfilled and that made the whole plane ride insignificant!
Sunday
We went to Arlington Cemetery where I saw the changing of the guards. I've decided that being one of those guards has to be the most patriotic, monotonous, and boring jobs in the history of all jobs. But it was still cool nonetheless.

Funny story about this picture... I asked if I could get a picture, just a simple picture, and they automatically thought I was gay. Needless to say that this was a start to a very beautiful friendship.
Monday
I met my roommates, Steve and Shelby, and they were from Wyoming. All-around amazing guys! I also met some great people from Alaska, Louisiana, Illinois, and Texas. It really opened my mind to see that there are good people outside of my hometown.

Tuesday-Thursday
These days were mostly spent on the town looking at the sites, so I'll just let you look at the pictures...

My highlights of the week were...

  1. The metro/subway is the best way to travel
  2. Louisianians have the coolest accents
  3. Wyoming kids are my favorite
  4. Alaskan kids are not particularly my favorite except for a select few
  5. Illinois girls love Obama... and David Millman's hair
  6. Everyone loved David Millman's hair
  7. The majority of people outside of Utah still think that we are polygamists
  8. Kids from Alaska now think that David Millman has 4 moms because that's what he told them
  9. Anything you do that even looks a little homosexual makes people think that you're gay in the east
  10. I almost got in a fight with a bum named Showtime (interesting story, I'll probably post it sometime)
